XIV World Forest Congress 2015

Instructions for poster submissions to the XIV World Forestry Congress

The deadline for submitting posters to the Congress has now passed. We are no longer accepting posters but we look forward to your participation at the Congress.

Content

The poster must be technically or scientifically sound, up-to-date, relevant to the overall Congress theme and at least one of the sub-themes, and clear in their writing. Posters can be written in English, French or Spanish. There are currently no plans to translate the posters to other languages.

Format

Submitted posters should comply with the following criteria:

  • Maximum 700 words, minimum font size of 20 point to be readable from 2 metres
  • Size A0 portrait style (84.1 wide x 118.9 centimetres high or 33.11 wide x 46.81 inches high)
  • Poster text divided into 3 sections covering the following content:
    • Scope and main objectives
    • Innovative approach/results
    • Conclusions/lessons learned/way forward/why it matters/recommendations
  • Use short sentences or bullet points wherever possible and avoid long dense text
  • Include at least two photos/figures/tables to make the content interesting and attractive
  • Include the names and affiliations of the authors underneath the title

Submission

All posters should be submitted electronically to form part of the electronic record of the conference. The electronic version of the poster must adhere to the following requirements:

  • The file should be submitted as final version ready to publish online as an Adobe Acrobat ( .PDF file)
  • The resolution of the poster and any images must be at least 300 dpi.

The corresponding author of accepted posters will receive an email with a link to the online platform where posters can be submitted. Please select the appropriate abstract title and click to open the abstract page.

There are 2 options for uploading posters. We ask authors to keep the file size below 10Mb and use Option A.

OPTION A: (PREFERRED): If the poster file size is smaller than 10Mb: Clicking the “Upload” button will allow you to select the file to be uploaded from your computer.

OPTION B: If the file cannot be made smaller than 10Mb: Authors should first upload the file to the internet on a file sharing site that the author chooses (Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive are some examples of free file sharing sites). Authors should then paste the web link (URL) to the file in the box marked “Link to downloadable PDF file” where FAO can download the poster file. Do not email poster files to the conference email address, as we are not able to receive large file sizes.

There are two ways to get your hard copy of the poster to the conference:

  1. All authors of posters are encouraged to prepare, print (and laminate if possible) the hard copy of their poster and to bring them to the Congress when they travel.
  2. To help authors from countries eligible for special rates at the Congress (only countries on this list here) -  if you cannot print your poster in your country, please click the checkbox below the file link and the poster will be printed by the Congress organizers.

Confirmation

You must inform us by 7th August 2015 if you (or another delegate) are not able to attend and set up the poster.

Poster user rights

By submitting a poster or video to the Congress the author/creator allows FAO to display the submitted poster or video (along with a name and organizational credit) in connection with the Congress and the promotion of FAO’s work.

Authors should insert the following text at the end of the text and before the References.
