Distribution
Occurring in the Arctic and subarctic regions of Canada, Alaska, Russia, China and in Antarctica. Cryosols extend over 1770 million hectares. They also occur at high elevation in mountainous areas. Associated soils are Podzols, Histosols and Gleysols.
