King Bhumibol – sowing a future for farmers

Bangkok – Today Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was presented the FAO publication King Bhumibol – sowing a future for farmers during an audience at the Srapathum Palace in Bangkok.

Representing His Majesty the King of Thailand, HRH Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously accepted the FAO latest publication King Bhumibol – sowing a future for farmers, a special book documenting the close and intrinsic relations between His Majesty’s sufficiency economy philosophy and the New Theory of Agriculture with food security and poverty alleviation.

He Changchui, Assistant Director-General and FAO Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific presented the FAO publication, emphasizing that His Majesty has always placed people and livelihoods at the centre of development.

“FAO joins the nation in celebrating the long and benevolent reign of his Majesty by publishing this book in commemoration of the 80 birthday of His Majesty” Mr He stressed.

“Following His Majesty’s outstanding examples, and working together with all stakeholders, I feel that Thailand can both achieve as well as further contribute substantially to the achievement of the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals.”

On behalf of the ministry of agriculture and cooperative, HE Thira Sutabutra pledged that food security, poverty reduction and the general well-being of rural farming families will remain a focus of the country’s national development plans, in line with His Majesty’s numerous projects.
