FAMINE DECLARED IN PARTS OF SOUTH SUDAN

Some 100,000 people are facing starvation in parts of South Sudan where famine has been declared. A further 1 million people are classified as being on the brink of famine.

FAMINE DEFEATED

Thanks to massive humanitarian assistance, the famine declared just months previously was declared over in June, although severe food insecurity continued to threaten the lives of 6.2 million people
