Objective:

To provide critical agricultural inputs, including seeds, fertilizers and livestock supplies to flood-affected and food-insecure poor farming households to ensure the restoration of crop production systems and survival of existing livestock.

Key partners:

The Ministry of Livestock and Dairy Development, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, National and Provincial Disaster Management Authorities, and non-governmental organizations.

Beneficiaries reached:

121 298 households.

Activities implemented:
  • Provided 1 930 tonnes each of wheat seed to 38 268 households and 146 tonnes of rice seed to 5 860 households.
  • Provided 2 192 tonnes of diammonium phosphate and 2513 tonnes of urea fertilizers to 44 098 households.
  • Provided 11 580 tonnes of compound animal feed, 618 tonnes of fodder and 19.3 tonnes of animal de-wormer to 77 200 livestock holding households.
  • Provided 46.9 tonnes of vegetable seeds to 115 800 households for the creation of household gardens.
Impact:
  • As a result of the support provided by the project, the average farming household was able to produce 1 194 kg of grains, 1 050 kg of straw and 368 kg of vegetables.
  • The livestock inputs provided under the project have contributed to the survival of existing livestock and the overall food and nutrition security of beneficiary households.
