Objective:

To ensure that harmonized food security analyses are used in improving decision making and planning strategic response in Central African Republic.

Key partners:

Local government institutions, UN agencies in the region and national and international NGOs.

Beneficiaries reached:

Food and nutrition stakeholders in Central African Republic including decision makers in Government, donors, UN partners, national and international NGOs, members of the Food Security Cluster and vulnerable rural households.

Activities implemented:
  • Produced four IPC maps, with the latest covering the period between July and September 2013.
  • Organized four national training and analaysis workshops.
  • Trained 36 staff working for national and international NGOs and Government institutions on version 2.0 of the IPC technical manual.
  • Performed radio broadcasts after each workshop.
Impact:
  • Improved targeting with IPC maps that enabled identification of the most affected regions and food insecure populations for humanitarian action plans.
  • Strengthened interventions and improved the capacity of national and international policy makers.
  • IPC analyses determined the impact of the conflict on food security, allowing different organizations to develop interventions accordingly.
