Objective:

To improve the livelihoods, resilience and food security of communities affected by insecurity and conflict.

Key partners:

The decentralized services of the Ministry of Livestock and Non-governmental Organizations.

Beneficiaries reached:

36 800 households.

Activities implemented:
  • Identified, informed and sensitized beneficiary households on the project.
  • Distributed crop kits to 30 600 households, including 300 tonnes of groundnut seeds, 27.5 tonnes of bean seeds, 30 tonnes of cowpea seeds, 30 tonnes of sesame seeds, 235 tonnes of maize seeds, 71 tonnes of rice seeds, 80 tonnes of sorghum seeds, 10 tonnes of millet seeds, 30 000 ceylan hoes and 46 200 linda hoes.
  • Identified and analysed potential sectors for strategic intervention to resume economic activities.
  • Distributed fish farming, small livestock and vegetable kits to 6 200 additional households.
  • Developed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification maps.
  • Provided technical training to beneficiaries.
Impact:
  • Strengthened the coordination of the Food Security Cluster, as well as food security data collection and analysis.
  • Cultivated 22 037 ha of land and produced 25 278 tonnes of food crops.
  • Cultivated 200 ha of land and produced 600 tonnes of vegetables.
  • Produced sufficient food for at least five months.
  • Harvested 2 000 fish.
  • Produced 40.92 tonnes of equivalent meat.
  • Contributed to improving the livelihoods, resilience and food security and nutrition of communities affected by insecurity and conflict.
