TOM Steering Committee

The TOM Steering Committee (SCTOM) has been identified to contribute to the development and sustainability of TOM. TOM is a capacity development support tool.

The committee will: 

  • Advise on the strategic objectives and review the roadmap for the development and sustainability of TOM;
  • Review the strategic needs indicated by veterinary authorities in terms of capacity development and recommend solutions through competency-based education  programmes;
  • Contribute to the establishment of regional/national sub-committees or working teams and provide direction for the development, implementation and evaluation of TOM at regional/national level;
  • Identify priorities, opportunities and resources for the development of competency frameworks, guideline, quality documents and features development in TOM. 

The SCTOM will include three ex-officio organizations as members:

  • European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease;
  • Food and Agriculture Organization;
  • World Organisation of Animal Health. 

In addition members of 

  • Competency based training providers in the veterinary post graduate area;
  • Associations representing relevant vet specialties, including paraprofessionals (VPP and CAHW);
  • Workforce training managers of NC authorities;
  • Veterinary statutory bodies supervising CPD schemes.
