Good practices for the resilience of rural livelihoods for food and nutrition security

The added value of coordination, collaboration and synergy between FAO and WFP

The WFP Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean and the FAO Subregional Office for Mesoamerica, both located in Panama, organized the "Workshop on Exchange of Experiences in Community Resilience for Food and Nutrition Security" in September 2016 in Colombia. The aim was to exchange knowledge, experiences and tools regarding the development, validation and systematization of good practices in the construction of resilience in order to benefit the implementation of them in the different countries. The meeting served as a platform to identify future collaboration points between participating countries and organizations. The meeting was attended by experts on resilience issues from national governments and partners from Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru and the Dominican Republic, as well as from FAO, WFP and other NGOs working in the theme of resilience. The meeting took place in La Guajira, Colombia, a region where FAO and WFP have joint programs. Following this meeting, FAO and PMA decided to publish a publication to systematize good practices in resilience promoted in 3 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, showing the role, responsibility and added value of each agency.
