Description:
The World Rural Forum (WRF) is a plural network that works in favour of Family Farming and sustainable rural development, composed by Family Farming federations and organisations such as COPROFAM, PIFON, UMNAGRI, PDRR, PROPAC and AFA, rural development organisations such as INADES, and agriculture cooperatives and research centers such as CIRAD. The WRF facilitates dialogue and encourages the empowerment of Family Farming organisations, strengths cooperation between the different stakeholders that work in rural areas (farmers’ organizations, international organizations, research institutions, NGOs, etc) and carries out advocacy work. The WRF led the campaign for the declaration, both, of the International Year of Family Farming IYFF-2014 and, more recently, the IYFF+10/Decade of Family Farming 2019-2028, by the United Nations, together with hundreds of organizations from all five continents. During the IYFF-2014, the WRF coordinated the efforts of Civil Society organizations and National Commmittees for Family Farming. The declaration of the Decade of Family Farming opens up a great opportunity to continue promoting public policies in favor of Family Farming in the world National Committees for Family Farming. In this sense the WRF will continue working to seek the best possible implementation of this IYFF+10/Decade of Family Farming, in close collaboration with governments, FAO, IFAD and other stakeholders.
