Mission: Promote sustainable livelihood and food & nutrition security of rural community through developing and demonstrating models for replication, leveraging agriculture for nutrition, women empowerment, grass-root Institution building, training, capacity building and awareness creation, convergence and policy advocacy. Goals: o Improvement of socio-economic condition of tribal people o Production enhancement and soil health management in dry land agriculture o Conservation of genetic resources, maintain genetic purity, and safe guard the Intellectual property rights o Skill and Knowledge up-gradation on sustainable agriculture and livelihood security o Reducing food and seed scarcity and maintain nutritional security to reduce malnourishment Strategic Objectives of the Centre: • To Mainstream nutrition and promote improved agriculture and animal husbandry and fishery practices to enhance productivity for sustainable livelihood and nutrition security with focus to women empowerment and drudgery reduction • To document, characterize and conserve agro-biodiversity through promotion of in-situ and ex-situ conservation and people’s biodiversity register • To promote establishment of Nutrition Gardens to Address Hidden Hunger – household, community and institutional level; convergence with Govt. programme • To develop sustainable value chains; form and strengthen FPOs and socio economic studies • To capacitate members of community to be Community Hunger Fighters/Nutrition Ambassador – leveraging agriculture for nutrition, balanced diet, access to Ag, F&N entitlements • To capacitate members of community on legal entitlements – BD Act, PPV&FRA, NFSA, Forest Rights Act
