The CCASIA Region - Regional Coordinator China

The Coordinating Committee for Asia was established at the 11th Meeting of the Codex Alimentarius Commission held in Rome, Italy, in July 1976. Its first meeting was held in New Delhi (India) in January 1977.

The regional coordinator operates from within the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment.

China’s main priorities as coordinator include enhancing participation in Codex meetings, supporting the prioritization of Codex work in the region, improving harmonization of food safety standards and accelerating the revitalization of the coordinating committee by sharing information and providing regular updates on food safety issues within the region.

China also wishes to promote collaboration with observer organizations and improve efficient and effective communication between regional members FAO, WHO, and the Codex Secretariat.

Spectacular show in Hong Kong celebrates Codex 60th anniversary

FAO announces new brochure and strategic priorities on food safety at CCFA

FAO has now issued a brochure that describes its work on food safety. Food additives Committee plays key role in enhancing trust in food safety work

Mr. LEI Haichao, Vice Minister of the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, opened the 53rd session of the Codex Committee on Food Additives (CCFA), taking place from 27-31 March 2023, in China Hong Kong SAR. Mock Codex sessions aid training for Timor Leste Codex Trust Fund project

In Timor Leste a four-day mock Codex committee session has taken place this week as part of training to help the country’s Codex representatives understand how Codex works and how to participate effectively in Codex sessions. ACT project launched in Nepal, 50 stakeholders agree on AMR priorities

Discussions, speeches and a quiz all contribute to World Food Safety Day events at Abbott Nutrition, India

At the pharmaceuticals company, Abbott Nutrition India, staff and employees celebrated World Food Safety Day this year, with a number of different activities. Over 250 team members took part in food safety discussions and listened to key messages from site leaders and messages about World Food Safety Day on the year’s theme, Safer Food, Better Health. Key staff contributors to food safety were recognized by management and a company-wide quiz saw prizes handed out to winners.

ACT project / Pakistan brings together 50 experts to discuss progress on AMR

The Lao People's Democratic Republic celebrates World Food Safety Day with New Zealand-backed project

For World Food Safety Day 2022, the Mekong Institute (MI) joined stakeholders of the national food control system in the Lao People's Democratic Republic to commemorate the importance of food safety for public and economic health.
