Update on coronavirus in China and Codex meetings: CCFA52 postponed

The Codex Secretariat can confirm that the 52nd meeting of the Codex Committee on Food Additives (CCFA), originally scheduled to take place in Lanzhou, China from 2 to 6 March 2020 has been postponed due to the situation regarding the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

In collaboration with the China National Health Commission and the CCFA Host Secretariat, the Codex Secretariat postponed the meeting, at the same original location, from 22 to 26 June, 2020 with the working groups taking place on 19 to 20 June.

CCFA secretariat informed that there will be no charges for delegates who have reserved rooms for the meeting in March but are going to cancel their reservations.

CCFA Secretariat would like to remind delegations that the information for delegates together with room reservation form has been updated


The 52nd Session of the Codex Committee on Food Additives will be held from 22 to 26 June 2020 at the Crowne Plaza Lanzhou, at the kind invitation of the Government of China. The Session will begin at 9.30 on Monday 22 June 2020. Registration facilities will be open on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June 2020 from 8:00 to 16:00 and on Monday 22 June 2020 from 8:00 at the registration desk located outside the meeting venue.
The Session will be conducted in English, French, Spanish and Chinese.


Delegates are kindly requested to use the online registration system to register delegates for the meeting before 22 May 2020.

Login and password for the online registration have been provided to all Codex Contact Points and Contact Point of Observers Organizations. Please contact your CCP for assistance in registering online. If the login and password have not been received, please contact


Delegates should check with their local Chinese Embassy or Consulate as to whether a visa is needed to enter China. For those delegates who require a visa, the application forms are available on:

Delegates from countries which haven’t established diplomatic relationship with China, could acquire the visa from the adjacent country which has diplomatic relationship with China. If assistance is needed to facilitate the issuance of a visa, a personal invitation letter can be provided to support visa application. Please send the details to CCFA Secretariat via before May 10, 2020.
