FAO/WHO GIFT | Herramienta global FAO/OMS para la divulgación de datos sobre el consumo individual de alimentos

Indicators

For the development of this version of the FAO/WHO GIFT platform, the following decisions, choices and methods were applied:

  • In this version of the platform, even if they had been defined by the data owner, weighting factors for different population groups represented in the dataset were not applied. Thus, data may be biased by disproportions between the numbers of individuals represented in this dataset compared to general population or to other published data based on the same dataset. For information about sampling procedures and possible oversampling of some population groups in this dataset please refer to the survey metadata.
  • Presented data are not calculated based on the usual intakes of the individuals. As a proxy of the usual intake, a simple average of consumption on the recall days was calculated for those individuals who had data from more than one day of consumption. In some datasets only a subsample of individuals have data from more than one day of consumption. For the details on the number of recall days available for individuals in the dataset please refer to the survey metadata.
  • In this version of the platform, individuals are classified in different population groups based on their age and physiological status at the first recall. Nutrient Reference values for Vitamin A used in the Nutrition/Dietary adequacy section were used after: Institute of Medicine. 2001. Dietary Reference Intakes for Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Arsenic, Boron, Chromium, Copper, Iodine, Iron, Manganese, Molybdenum, Nickel, Silicon, Vanadium, and Zinc. Washington, DC: The National Academies Press.
  • The recommended macronutrient contributions to the total energy intake used in the Nutrition/Macronutrient sources of energy in the diet, were used after: Diet, nutrition and the prevention of chronic diseases: report of a joint WHO/FAO expert consultation, Geneva, 28 January - 1 February 2002.
