The FAO’s Global Soil Partnership and the Eurasian Soil Partnership (EASP), in collaboration with the Eurasian Center for Food Security (ECFS), are pleased to announce two calls for research and implementation projects.
The International Network of Soil Information Institutions (INSII) serves as the technical backbone of Pillar 4 and as the main data provider network for the Global Soil Information System (GloSIS). INSII consists of nationally mandated institutions and other Global Soil Partnership (GSP) partners that have the willingness to contribute to the GloSIS. In order to take further steps in the execution of the Pillar 4 Implementation Plan, the network needs a committed, highly qualified individual to serve as the INSII Chairperson. In collaboration with the GSP Secretariat, the INSII Chairperson will chair the INSII's annual working sessions as well as virtual and in-person Pillar 4 Working Group meetings, reporting on progress made to the GSP Plenary and INSII. The Chairperson is expected to collaborate with other GSP pillars, technical networks and working groups including the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS).
The policy brief, launched on 31 March 2019 at the Near East and North Africa Land and Water Days, aims to raise awareness and trigger policy action on the added value of soil resources in the Near East and North Africa (NENA) region.
The Thai Soil Partnership (TSP), established in March 2019, is composed of government, private, academic, religious, civil society, media and public sectors. The partnership aims to provide a platform for knowledge and experience exchange on soil resources, as well as to create activities and guidelines for the sustainable management of soil resources across the country, linking to the Regional Soil Partnership and the Global Soil Partnership.
