The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan and FAO concluded a four-year agreement that will help improve the assessment, monitoring and reporting of global and country-level efforts in afforestation and reforestation and conservation with a view to enhancing forest carbon stocks.
A Masters short course in REDD+ Measurement Reporting and Verification (MRV) for 30 Indonesian government officials is currently taking place at University of Melbourne’s Creswick Campus. The participants represent a cross section of Indonesian government ministries and departments that have a role in MRV processes and REDD+ UNFCCC submissions.

National Forest Inventories are a very important pillar for national forest monitoring systems. They provide basic data on the carbon stocks of forests and trees, as well as providing reliable data for measurement of uncertainties related to deforestation and forest degradation.
