COVID-19 | FAO's Humanitarian Response

Jul 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the greatest global shocks in generations.

Livelihoods have been disrupted, while poverty and hunger are rising…

and the full impacts of the pandemic have yet to be seen…

FAO’s COVID-19 RESPONSE

includes a global…

HUMANITARIAN COMPONENT TO TACKLE RISING HUNGER.

Only together can we…

Monitor the impacts trough real-time data and analysis

We undertake on-the-ground assessments of the negative impacts of the pandemic,

monitor risk-factors in local food supply chains,

identify emerging trends…

and facilitate anticipatory, response and recovery programmes.

Ensure continuity of essential operations for the most vulnerable

We ensure the continuity of programs in the midst of the crisis,

provide vital agricultural inputs to million people,

and enhancing storage facilities for conservation of perishable commodities.

Safeguard the functioning of markets and the flow of agricultural products

We support the functioning of food markets, value chains and systems,

enabling the most vulnerable to produce and consume food.

Prevent the transmission of the virus along the food chain

Undertaking awareness-raising campaigns and training…

Educate food workers on how to prevent the spread of the virus with help from partners,

disinfect markets, and facilitate market functioning.

NOW IS THE TIME TO TRANSFORM OUR FOOD SYSTEMS AND OUR FUTURE.

Be part of the solution.
