The South Pacific Regional Initiative on Forest Genetic Resources (SPRIG), the Australian Agency For International Development (AusAID), the Food And Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Pacific Islands Forest and Tree Support Programme of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and the Forestry Division of Samoa.

The Conference was held in Apia, Samoa, from 12 to 16 April, 1999
