Women, biodiversity and food: the valorization of life through agroecological experiences

This special issue, "Women, biodiversity and food: the valorization of life through agroecological experiences ”, reflects part of the work of the Women's Alliance in Agroecology-Alliance of Women in Agroecology (AMA-AWA).

Most of the articles have been written with active participation of peasant women, activists and teachers, in a joint attempt to systematize their experiences and knowledge. Also, the review and edition of the writings have been made using a round trip process in which mostly women, researchers have participated activists who have contributed generously and voluntarily to the materialization of this project collective.

The project is made up of 13 items that reflect, among others elements, how the knowledge of the women contribute to the agro-ecological management of their territory and culture food; reflections on care work in spaces and networks of responsible consumption; the experience of agroecological gardens as tools of change through popular education, which increases food sovereignty; initiatives of women's collectives and networks that jointly achieve high levels of autonomy, they build new leadership spaces and patterns of endogenous development anchored in the territory, and other forms of doing research in agroecology that take in account the many knowledge of women for the sustainability of agroecological systems and for the structural transformation of society and the agri-food system
