Brazil: Popular agrarian reform and the massification of agroecology are central proposals of the MST to the G20

“The massification of agroecology is linked to increased cooperation within our areas, to the debate on the organisation of food and agroecological production chains, so that each region of Brazil, each state, can bring together its specific problems, without renouncing diversity."

This article discusses the proposals of Brazil's Landless Workers' Movement (MST) for the G20, emphasizing popular agrarian reform and widespread adoption of agroecology to address climate change and ensure food security. These proposals include increasing agroecological production, advancing reforestation, and promoting sustainable technologies. The MST also highlighted the importance of collaboration to influence global policies. These ideas were presented during the Social G20 and reflect the MST’s decade-long focus on integrating land reform and ecological practices to counteract agribusiness impacts.
