This study examines the main certification programmes in the banana sector. As the report is divided into three sections, the executive summary will follow this structure, including General Principles and Objectives, Monitoring and Control, and Standards. The Standards section, comprising the bulk of the report, is sub-divided into environmental, social and economic-institutional criteria. Finally, the prospects for further convergence between the certification programmes will be examined.
