The agroecological approach in agricultural production has become more relevant due to the growing demands of society for access to healthy, healthy and sustainable food, as well as the need to promote sustainable food systems that are resilient to climate change and mitigate the impact on the environment. Since the COVID-19 pandemic and the increase in climate change-related phenomena, agri-food sustainability has become a matter of urgency, particularly relevant for a food-producing country such as Argentina.

The strength of the agroecological approach lies in the fact that it simultaneously applies ecological and social concepts and principles to the design and management of food systems that also offer alternatives to other pressing problems in the country: hunger and malnutrition.

The webinar "Agroecology and the Road Ahead: Tools for Policy Formulation" will aim to present the agroecology work programs of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Argentina, in collaboration with national authorities and local stakeholders.

The event is organized by IFAD and FAO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina (MAGyP). It will promote a debate on the construction of public policies related to agroecology in the country, reflecting on opportunities and challenges. The event is aimed at producers' organizations, technical and academic bodies, representatives of municipalities, national and provincial authorities and international organizations.
