هدف موضوعي WaPOR, FAO’s portal to monitor WAter Productivity through Open-access of Remotely sensed derived data, assists countries in monitoring water productivity, identifying water productivity gaps, proposing solutions to reduce these gaps and contributing to a sustainable increase of agricultural production. At the same time, it takes into account ecosystems and the equitable use of water resources, aiming towards an overall reduction of water stress
شركاء The WaPOR project is possible thanks to partnerships, including  IHE-Delft Institute for Water Education, and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), as well as the financial support of the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands
أنشطة By providing near real time pixel information, WaPOR opens the door for service-providers to assist farmers in obtaining more reliable yields and improving their livelihoods. At the same time, irrigation authorities have access to information to modernize their irrigation schemes and government agencies are able to use this information to promote and increase the efficient use of their natural resources. WaPOR also works closely with stakeholders from a set of partner countries to help them use WaPOR data to solve relevant local problems with a set of activities that include capacity-building.
تأثير With near real time data on plant water consumption, production and productivity, supported by other data such as land cover, precipitation, etc…, the WaPOR database is a major asset that users at different scales can use to improve their production while also focusing on water. As this resource becomes scarcer, such data with its temporal and spatial coverage is instrumental in helping different stakeholders cope. WaPOR data is being used in irrigation management, water accounting and auditing at different scales (regional, national, local), the monitoring of crops throughout the growing season, the reduction of yield and productivity gaps, farmer advisory services, among others.
