Identification and analysis of marine fisheries research - Case studies from selected countries in the Fishery Committee for the Eastern Central Atlantic (CECAF) area of competence

During 2020, the ASFA Secretariat supported the CECAF-PESCAO project by compiling an inventory of marine fisheries research produced in nine countries (Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Spain). A search methodology was agreed with the CECAF project team, with support from the EAF-Nansen Programme to identify relevant marine fisheries research.

Having celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021, ASFA is now looking to the future and how it can support the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As an international network focused on disseminating the world’s aquatic science, fisheries and aquaculture research, there are many ways in which ASFA can and does contribute to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
