WSIS Forum Final Week

The final week of the Virtual WSIS Forum 2020 takes place on 7-10 September 2020, consisting of policy statements, interactive high-level dialogues, a WSIS Prize ceremony, a ministerial round table as well as a series of WSIS Action Line facilitation meetings.

The WSIS Forum programme is completely crowdsourced, the engagement of governments, civil society, the private sector, academia, the technical community and intergovernmental organizations in the preparatory process ensures broad ownership and continual improvements of the Forum.

The Agenda and Programme for the Forum is built on the basis of official submissions received during the Open Consultation Process on Shaping the Themes and Format of WSIS Forum 2020.

In summary

In the sessions organized, high-level officials, academics, government officials, ICTs experts, the private sector, United Nations, youth, business and civil society leaders engaged in addressing issues on ICTs for development. Over 770 key speakers participated throughout the weeks in more than 130 virtual sessions organized by WSIS stakeholders.
 
Participants joined from over 150 countries around the world; with 35% joining from Asia and Australasia, 21% from Africa, 18% from Western Europe, 17% from the Americas, and 9% from the region of Eastern Europe and Northern Asia.
 
Of all the participants: 32% work in Government, 21% in the Private Sector, 14% in Academia, 9% from International Organizations, 8% from Civil Society, and 5% from the United Nations.
 
In the Forum overall, 45% of the participants were women, and 55% men.
