The course will provide theoretical knowledge and hands-on expertise needed to detect and characterize foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) strains from sample preparation to advanced molecular analysis. The program combines presentations, laboratory handling and practice like RNA extraction, real-time RT-PCR for detection and serotyping, and conventional RT-PCR methods. Cutting-edge techniques like Sanger sequencing and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) will also be explored.

This course is designed for laboratory staff or those who have at least a basic knowledge of FMDV diagnostic and who will be responsible for implementing FMDV diagnostic techniques within the laboratory.
