The aim of the workshop, supported by EuFMD, is to reduce the risk of biological threats at regional level by enhancing and developing regional capacity to plan, conduct and evaluate simulation exercises for animal diseases.

By the end of the workshop, the participants should be able to:

• discuss the importance of simulation exercises and turn upcoming exercises into a tool for improving contingency plans and increasing emergency preparedness;
• implement the essential tasks which must be completed to provide the hierarchical support for an effective and successful exercise;
• plan tabletop and drill simulation exercises;
• conduct tabletop and drill simulation exercises;
• plan the evaluation process of simulation exercises in accordance with the aims of the given simulation exercise; and
•  discuss approaches for providing feedback after the conduction of simulation exercises (e.g. face-to-face, reports, workshops and other relevant means).
