The European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD)

Digital Transformation

The EUFMD plays a key role in enhancing emergency preparedness, response, and control for FAST diseases. A digital transformation strategy is included in the work programme and aims at improving effectiveness and response capabilities. In leveraging digital solutions, the EuFMD aims to detect outbreaks in a swifter way, coordinate responses more effectively, and prevent the spread of diseases.

The approach will redesign existing solutions or introduce new ones while acknowledging overall strengths and capabilities. The focus remains on meeting evolving needs.

The EuFMD's digital transformation and innovation strategy is centered around two primary objectives.

Empowering external stakeholders

Aimed at our stakeholders, beneficiaries and partners. These includes researchers, laboratories, scientists, civil society members, and decision-makers. Partners are given digital tools, data analytics capabilities, and real-time communication channels, leading to prompt, efficient response and preparedness.

Empowering the EuFMD team

The EuFMD aims to innovate and digitally enhance existing tools and processes implemented by the EuFMD team. Daily operations and time-consuming tasks are streamlined by leveraging technology, leading to overall improved efficiency. The aim is to create a more agile and efficient work environment, with care given to mental health and a correct work-life balance.
