International Symposium on GIAHS and Family Farming 2023

Sharing experience and success stories on sustainable rural development

(Japan), 27/11/2023 - 29/11/2023

This year´s International Symposium focuses on how  innovative and sustainable rural development  supports family famers in GIAHS sites.

Rural development is a cornerstone of dynamic conservation activities. It contributes to communities’  wellbeing through multisectorial and multidomain actions that have an impact on family farmers.

Rural development experts and representatives from GIAHS sites in Japan, and other countries,  will share concrete insights and good examples of sustainable rural development. They will also share insights about their impacts on, as well as the issues and challenges faced by, small-scale and family farmers.

Finally, they will highlight the key factors and conditions for success that can be replicated in other GIAHS sites.
