Register to become an FFKP Contributor (for organizations & institutions)

Who can become an FFKP contributor?
Interested entities such as Research Organizations, Universities, Non-Governmental Organizations, Development Agencies and Farmers’ Organizations willing to participate, through this Feature, in the project by sending factual, notable, verifiable (with cited sources) and neutrally presented content.

Please note that the FFKP asks its contributors to regularly include updated content (publications, articles, case studies, projects, etc.) - even only a single document per month.

Why become an FFKP regular contributor?
Becoming an FFKP contributor consists in a mutual effort to cooperate and work together in identifying opportunities and gaps to promote a shift towards more equal and balanced development. A strong coalition of contributors sharing their knowledge represents the very foundation of this initiative.

By joining the Family Farming Knowledge Platform as a regular contributor, you will be participating to a global initiative, sharing knowledge, solutions, and action-oriented initiatives around the world, giving visibility and showcasing your content (such as publications, articles, case studies, projects, etc. ), events and initiatives led in an effort to raise awareness of the issues related to family farming. Please note that the FFKP asks its contributors to regularly include updated content (publications, articles, case studies, projects, etc.), even a single document per month.

How to register
Entities wishing to include contents on the Family Farming Knowledge Platform (FFKP) on a regular basis must register with FAO*. Access to this Feature is password controlled, and upon successful completion of the registration process, your institution/organization/association will receive a password to submit material.

Submissions must meet the content requirements in order to get published.

Content:

  • will only be accepted in the official FAO languages - Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish;
  • should be factual, notable, verifiable with cited sources, and neutrally presented;
  • will be entered in compliance with all applicable laws, including, without limitation, privacy laws, intellectual property laws, anti-spam laws;
  • should include information that is relevant to the Platform (sensitive or politically controversial material will not be considered relevant);
  • will not promote external products or services. Contributions promoting external products or services will not be taken into consideration;
  • must meet FAO's quality standards in order to get published. FAO reserves the right to edit and adapt a contribution prior to posting and reject a contribution that in the views of FAO does not comply with such standards.

 

Type of content to be submitted:

Article (Journal, magazine, newsletter and/or blog article)

An article is a written work published in a print or electronic medium which discusses current or recent news of either general interest (i.e. daily newspapers) or of a specific topic (i.e. political or trade news magazines).

Journal

Periodical publications aimed at disseminating original research and commentary on current developments in a specific discipline, sub discipline, or field of study.

Newsletter        

A serial publication consisting of no more than a few pages, devoted to news, announcements, and current information of interest primarily to a specialized group of subscribers or members of an association or organization.

Conference paper          

Materials produced for any kind of meeting, including official meetings and conference, or workshops documents (e.g. written speech and reports given at a specific conference)

Conference proceedings

Any report or proceedings generated by a meeting, or which discusses the outcome and conclusion of a meeting

Book     

A non-serial publication, written by a single author or collaboratively, based on research or scholarly findings generally derived from peer reviewed funding. It is complete in one volume or a designated finite number of volumes, it has chapters, possibly sections and it must have an ISBN or e-ISBN present.

Manual

Course and assignment materials produced for teaching purposes.

Report

A formal, factual, methodological, statistical, technical or research report issued by an individual, group, agency, government body or other institution. Reports disseminate the outcomes and deliverables of a research assignment.

Technical paper               

A document that describes the process, progress, or results of technical or scientific research or the state of a technical or scientific research problem.

Policy brief/ paper          

A concise summary of a particular issue, the policy options to deal with it, and some recommendations on the best option. It is aimed at government policymakers and others who are interested in formulating or influencing policy.

Case study         

A research paper involving an up-close, in-depth, and detailed examination of a subject of study (the case).

Guidelines         

A statement by which to determine a course of action. Guidelines aim to streamline particular processes according to a set routine or sound practice. Guidelines are not binding and are not enforced.

Project

A document that describes the objectives and outcomes of a field project, reporting on its implementation progress. It may provide details about the budget.

Working paper 

A preliminary paper, usually based on research, not intended for publication but rather for circulation by the author (or authors) to professional peers to provide information or with a request for comments or editorial improvement.

Fact sheet          

A brief presentation of data and information in a format which emphasizes key points concisely (usually no more than 3-4 pages).
