Print Send Towards sustainable food and nutrition security in Latin America and the Caribbean in response to the global food crisis

The most recent spike in international food prices began in the middle of 2020, driven mainly by the behaviour of the prices of vegetable oils and cereals. Pandemic-induced inflationary pressure was expected to be transitory. However, the war in Ukraine has caused further ruptures in key productive chains, such as energy and fertilizers. This has not only prevented inflation from returning to its pre-pandemic levels but has accelerated it significantly in the first seven months of 2022. This publication presents the most important messages related to this crisis.
