Murang'a County Government, in collaboration with the Institute for Culture and Ecology (ICE) and other partners, has enacted The Murang'a Agroecology Policy 2022-2032 and The Murang'a County Agroecology Development Act, 2022. The Act encourages the use of organic farming practices and the production of organic products. The county recognizes that residents will live a healthier and more productive life if they eat healthily. Deputy Governor Stephen Munania stated during the launch and signing of the regulations on Thursday at Ihura Stadium in Murang'a town that the Murang'a Agroecology Policy and Act has been put in place to provide for the regulations, development, and promotion of the county's organic food industry. The Deputy Governor stated that the county government, led by Governor Dr. Irungu Kang'ata, will ensure that residents benefit from the ten-year framework established to ensure that organic farming is practiced in the county. He stated that the passage of the two laws has elevated the country to the forefront of those committed to creating favorable legal frameworks to guide the implementation of agroecology practices that will aid in the adaptation to climate change and enhance sustainable and resilient food systems.
