The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is currently preparing a single and comprehensive Strategy for agriculture and rural development 2015-2020 that will address the real needs of the sector through an inclusive consultation process with stakeholders, civil society and donors. It will outline credible short and medium-term deliverables and will include a detailed implementation plan.

The structure of the Strategy is based on 1 overall objective, 8 main objectives and 24 specific objectives.

The overall objective is to increase agricultural competitiveness and promote rural development in a sustainable manner in line with EU and international standards.

For preparation of the Strategy 8 working groups and 24 subgroups were established to work on main and specific objectives. Strategy development will be carried out through the process of deep public consultations with civil society and is widely supported by the international donors.

Alongside drafting of the Strategy, a list of 'quick wins' related to fighting corruption and reducing red tape in the sector has been prepared and is ready for immediate implementation.
