CARI is an international solidarity association which has been involved with rural populations on the edge of the Sahara since 1998. The mission of the organisation is aid development by supporting smallholding agriculture as a defence against food crises and as a lever for empowerment. Its actions are mainly directed towards the combat against desertification and the degradation of land in arid regions. CARI leads actions on the ground with rural populations and advocates on the international scale the need for sustainable agriculture based on the principles of agroecology.
