Chairman of the Group of 77 and China, Rome Chapter, H.E. Dr. Papa Abdoulaye SECK, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Senegal to FAO

Doctor Papa Abdoulaye SECK is a world-class Specialist in Agricultural Policies and Strategies.


Dr. SECK has hold the position of Minister of Agriculture and Rural Equipment of Senegal, Director General of AfricaRice which is one of the fifteen (15) International Centers for Agricultural Research in the World (CGIAR), Director General of the Senegalese Institute of Agricultural Research (ISRA) and Ambassador of Senegal in Italy and Permanent Representative of Senegal to FAO-WFP-IFAD (Current position).


Dr. SECK is a Member of five Academies:
- World Academy of Sciences (TWAS);
- French Academy of Agriculture (AAF);
- African Academy of Sciences (AAS);
- Academy of Sciences of Senegal (ANSTS);
- National Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters of Benin (ANSALB). 


Dr. Papa Abdoulaye Seck received the Diploma of Merit from the African Union for the recognition of his highly scientific publications on food systems. Dr. Seck is Commander of the Order of Agricultural Merit of France, Knight of the French Legion of Honor, Knight of the National Order of the Lion of Senegal, Officer of the National Order of Merit of Senegal, Co-winner of the Commemorative Medal for 70 years of FAO, Co-winner of the T. W. Schultz Prize, Medal of Honor from the West and Central African Council for Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD), Holder of a Certificate of Recognition from the African Forum for Agricultural Research (FARA), Winner of a United Nations Prize as Director General of AfricaRice.
