Inception Meeting on "Airborne Light Detection and Ranging technology (LiDAR) for fast-tracking sustainable development"

22/02/2023 - 22/02/2023

To make the benefits of a national LiDAR dataset a reality in Bangladesh, multiple users and donors will need to come forward for financial and technical support. Data and knowledge sharing among national institutions is vital in this regard. This process was started with several roundtable discussions on this topic conducted in 2021. It will be revisited again in this workshop with participant from 73 national institutions and continue under working group (to be formed) discussions. Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are implementing the project Piloting Light Detection and Ranging technology (LiDAR) for fast-tracking agricultural transformation (TCP/BGD/3908), which will financially support a coordinator, meetings and trainings. It is expected that this initiative will contribute to the mandates of different institutions and achieving Sustainable Development Goals, Land Degradation Neutrality Targets, and Eighth Five Year Plan and Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 objectives.
