EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The data preparation meeting (WKDATAPREP) for demersal species in the Alboran Sea was held in person in Malaga, Spain, on 27 November–1 December 2023 at the FAO-GFCM Technical Unit for Western Mediterranean premises. The main objective of this meeting was to provide a platform to review, discuss and analyse input data for the assessment of demersal species in the Alboran Sea in advance of the GFCM Working Group on Stock Assessment of Demersal species (WGSAD) of 11–16 December 2023. Information on 6 stocks was presented and discussed: European hake in GSA 1, deep-water rose shrimp in GSA 1, European hake in GSA 3, deep-water rose shrimp in GSA 3, European hake in GSA 4, and deep-water rose shrimp in GSA 4.
