Representatives from tropical forest countries around the world will gather in Rome, Italy, from 3 to 5 November 2026 for the GFOI country forum: A South-South knowledge exchange (GFOI SSX), the leading opportunity to exchange practical expertise in forest monitoring.
As many countries are now well advanced in developing and strengthening their National Forest Monitoring System (NFMS), South-South exchange has become a priority for the GFOI community. Countries that have recently advanced their own NFMS are especially well positioned to support and guide others in earlier stages of this process. The GFOI SSX will help strengthen these country-to-country exchanges and foster lasting collaboration across the global forest monitoring community.
↘ When: 3–5 November (Tuesday to Thursday), with additional meetings on Friday 6 November (Friday’s meetings are invitation only)
↘ Where: Headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) & online
↘ Who: Approximately 150 forest monitoring practitioners from over 20 tropical forest countries
