In preparation for the 29th Regional Conference for Africa, the Tunisian Minister of Agriculture pays a working visit to Ghana

The Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Water Resource and Fisheries and President of the 28th session of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa, His Excellency, Mr.Saad Seddik, will pay a working visit to Ghana from 17-18 February 2016.

Minister Seddik’s visit to Ghana takes place at the invitation of Mr Bukar Tijani, FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Africa in preparation of the 29th session of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa, to be held in Abidjan, 4-8 April 2016,to assess progress made since the 28th session of the Conference and provide guidance on regional priorities for the next couple of years and beyond.

During the visit to Ghana, Minister Seddik will pay courtesy calls on the Ministries of Food and Agriculture and of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development of the Republic of Ghana, inviting them to attend the Abidjan Conference.

Under the theme: “Transforming African Agri-food systems for inclusive growth and a shared prosperity” jointly hosted by the Government of Côte d’Ivoire and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Conference is expected to bring together Ministers and other high level delegates from FAO Member Countries, partners, representatives of Civil Society Organizations in Africa, Observers from countries outside the Region, international, regional and Arab Organizations and the media.

Background information

The FAO Regional Conference for Africa is held once every two years, in the yearswhen the FAO General Conference does not meet in regular session,to undertake consultations on the priorities and strategies that the countries in the Region can pursue for achieving a successful agriculture transformation.
