The Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils held its ninth working session from 10 to 12 October 2018 at FAO Headquarters in Rome. 

The Global Soil Partnership (GSP) Plenary Assembly in June 2018 endorsed the new panel of 27 experts who will serve as the third ITPS for the 2018-2021 term. Important goals lie ahead of the top soil experts who will provide scientific and technical advice on global soil issues to the Global Soil Partnership under different development agendas and related UN bodies and conventions. As the top scientific panelist on soil, ITPS experts meets twice a year to make progress in reversing soil degradation and promoting healthy soils under the framework of the Global Soil Partnership.
