Engin Altan Düzyatan is a Turkish film and television actor. Born in Karşıyaka, Izmir Province, Engin began acting in school, going on to study theatre at the Dokuz Eylül University before making his professional debut in Istanbul with the hit fantasy TV series Ruhsar in 2001. Engin rose to international prominence playing Ertuğrul Bey in Diriliş: Ertuğrul – a drama about the legendary father of Osman, founder of the Ottoman Empire – which was dubbed the Turkish Game of Thrones. He had leading roles in the series Koçum Benim, the romantic comedy series Sevgili Dünürüm, and Bir Bulut Olsam. His crime series Son was sold to American, French, Spanish, Russian, Dutch markets for adaptation.

In 2020 he was named one of the world’s most influential Muslims in the annual “Muslim 500” compiled by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre, Jordan. Engin has received numerous awards for his work and recently starred in the historical TV drama Barbaros: Sword of the Mediterranean – playing Oruc Reis Barbarrosa who established the Ottoman presence in North Africa. For FAO Engin has been a valued and effective Champion fronting several campaigns promoting important agrifood system messages.
