Project overview:

This project focuses on supporting the related departments of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of  Türkiye to enhance the capacity of impact assessment and monitoring and evaluation systems, particularly for the projects financed through various international sources. It is aimed to ensure that relevant Ministry units are equipped with the necessary skills and tools to effectively assess and monitor project impacts.

Impact assessment is also a source of knowledge and enables governments to develop a depository of the types of projects, programs, and policies that are successful, and keep lessons learnt. Such mechanisms can also provide continuous feedback in the management process and support organizational learning, and support transparency and accountability making the status of projects, programs, and policies to both internal and external stakeholders. Therefore, impact evaluation should be embedded within the broader monitoring and evaluation systems.

The project will provide i. identified opportunities and needs for improving current approach to results-based monitoring , ii. MAF staff trained in results-based monitoring of internationally financed projects iii. available evidence on the results and impact of sub-regional projects financed by FTPP corrected, analysed and documented for analysing lessons learned.  

The project will be implemented by FAO in Türkiye, the estimated duration of the project will be 18 months and the estimated budget will be USD 200 000. The other beneficiary countries will assign participants to the events to be organized in Türkiye and study visits.
