Rome Dialogue on Social Responsibility

The FAO Sub-Committee on Fish Trade has a specific mandate to promote social sustainability in fisheries value chains, in particular the recognition and protection of human and labour rights in national and international value chains. 

FAO Fisheries is pleased to announce that The Rome Dialogue on Social Responsibility in Fisheries and Aquaculture Value Chains, will take place at the Abitart Hotel in Rome, from 19-20 June 2019. 

Rome Dialogue objectives

The Rome Dialogue will focus on measures to promote human and labour rights in fisheries and aquaculture value chains in order to encourage the industry to implement better practices on social responsibility in those value chains.

In particular, the Rome Dialogue will gather different NGOs, specialized in different areas linked to social responsibility, such as human and labour rights, small-scale fisheries, social sustainability, etc. The main objective is to discuss among participants how the FAO Guidance could be more inclusive without leaving anyone behind.
