Following the National level capacity building workshop held from 4 to 7 December in Maputo, the Smart Fisheries Co-management project is extending the training series on fisheries co-management systems in Mozambique. The upcoming four days will be dedicated to fisheries communities at the local level.

The training program aims to enhance technical knowledge related to the participatory management of artisanal fisheries. It will present innovations resulting from reforms in the legislation, and facilitate discussions on coordination mechanisms among different actors in participatory management. Participants will undergo training on evaluating the effectiveness of fisheries co-management and the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM), emphasizing its application to artisanal fisheries.

The event is organized in hybrid mode and will be held in Vilankulo, with virtual participants connected via Zoom.
