The consultation and validation of basic information for fisheries management based on the ecosystem approach to fisheries workshop is organized by the SVC4SIDS Project in partnership and coordination with the EAF-Nansen Program, and in collaboration with the Ministry of the Sea of the Republic of Cabo Verde.

The workshop aims to:

Engage stakeholders, particularly responsible authorities, in validating the fisheries values and objectives of the Fisheries Resource Management Plans (FRMPs) for black mackerel and small tunas.
Validate the baseline report as part of the plan development process.
Define and validate the roadmap for the development of the FRMPs for black mackerel and small tunas.

The event brings together stakeholders from the five Cabo Verde’s islands of Maio, Sal, Santiago, São Nicolau, and São Vicente who reviewed and discussed baseline information in relation to fisheries management based on the ecosystem approach to fisheries. The consultation also provides an opportunity for those involved in sustainable fisheries management to collaborate, share insights, and drive collective goals aligned with environmental stewardship and sustainability principle, to harness the full potential of the country's aquatic resources.
