Visit to the ScaleWat project evaluation site
On 28 & 29 November, the ScaleWat team in Colombia visited the village of Palmor in the municipality of Ciénaga. This village is located in the upper part of the Sevilla river basin.
A meeting was held in the township capital with Alexander Velásquez, president of the Community Action Board of the Makinkal village, who was interviewed as part of the pilot study. Subsequently, an interview was conducted with Marcel de Jesús Pérez, a member of the Indigenous Women's Foundation and the PDET Steering Group.
On Friday the 29, a trip was made to the villages of Orihueca and La Zuana in the municipality of Zona Bananera, located in the lower part of the Sevilla River basin. During this visit, a tour was conducted with residents of the village of Zuana along the banks of the mouth of the Sevilla River, where it was possible to observe the work being carried out by the Risk Management Unit to prevent sedimentation of the Sevilla River, including the removal of embankments.
This tour was an opportunity to listen to local residents talk about the problems they experience in relation to water access, which include droughts in the dry season and flooding in the rainy season.
