The TAP-AIS project

TAP-AIS is a project funded by the European Union and implemented by FAO. The project supports the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP) to strengthen capacities to innovate in national agricultural innovation systems (AIS) in the context of climate-relevant, productive, and sustainable transformation of agriculture and food systems in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Pacific.

In Cambodia, FAO is coordinating and managing the implementation of the TAP-AIS project in close partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries/ General Directorate of Agriculture (MAFF/GDA).

In Lao PDR, the TAP-AIS project is implemented by the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI), Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) and FAO in collaboration with relevant MAF’s departments and ministries.

In Malawi, the project focuses on scaling out the achievements of the CDAIS project and on applying tools and methodologies of the TAP Common Framework. In Malawi, FAO is implementing the TAP-AIS project in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture’s Department of Agricultural Extension Services (DAESS).

In Pakistan, FAO is conducting the TAP-AIS project in partnership with the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, which in late 2020 signed the project document on behalf of the Government of Pakistan. The 3-year project aims to strengthen the agricultural innovation system (AIS) of the country.

Innovation in the small livestock sub-sector is in focus of the EU-supported TAP-AIS project in Rwanda. Coordinated by the Ministry of Agricultural and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) and managed by FAO-Rwanda, the project contributes to the country’s Livestock Master Plan.
