Illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing is a common issue in these countries. In an attempt to tackle the problem, the Development Law Service supported the review and drafting of fisheries and aquaculture legislation related to conservation and sustainable use of fisheries resources, and provided capacity building on port state measures. The Service was able to do this through technical cooperation programme projects funded by Norway between 2016 and 2017 and this work is ongoing.
