Everyone's health, everyone's responsibility: FAO to host Global Conference on One Health in Agrifood Systems

FAO Global Conference for Actions on One Health in Agrifood Systems – 21 to 23 September 2026, FAO headquarters, Rome, Italy

10/09/2026

14/09/2026 - FAO will convene the Global Conference for Actions on One Health in Agrifood Systems at its headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The Conference will bring together global leaders, technical experts, partners and stakeholders to turn the One Health approach into concrete action across the world's agrifood systems, under the theme One Health in agrifood systems is everyone's health, everyone's responsibility and everyone's action.

Plants, animals, microorganisms, people and the environments they share are woven into a single, interconnected system – and that system is under mounting strain. Climate change, biodiversity loss, emerging diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food safety risks and environmental degradation are converging to threaten food security and livelihoods worldwide. The Conference will present One Health as the unifying, systems-based response: a way to build resilience and stop crises before they start.

Three days of discussion will focus on:

·              Integrating One Health into agrifood policies and investments.

·              Strengthening multisectoral collaboration across the agriculture, environment, health, finance and urban sectors.

·              Advancing innovation, science and local knowledge to improve risk prevention, surveillance and sustainable resource management.

·              Mobilizing investment and partnerships to turn commitments into measurable action.

The Global Youth Forum on One Health in Agrifood Systems will be opened on Day 1. It is a dedicated space for young professionals to exchange directly with policymakers, technical experts and senior leaders – a first for an FAO Global Conference of this kind, and a marker of how central youth leadership has become to the One Health agenda.

Good practices and outstanding innovations advancing One Health across agrifood systems will also be recognized during the Conference, alongside a programme of side events.

The Conference will be held as a hybrid event (links will be shown on the event page).

Full details on the agenda, side events programme and in-person registration can be found on the Conference webpage.
