Efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability in the use of TCP resources continue to shape the TCP portal. The portal not only aims at systematically documenting results, but also at sharing good practices and lessons learned to promote strategic and effective use of funds. Several new in Focus stories showcasing results data and good practices have been released:

• TCP Evaluation - 5 years later: The independent Evaluation of the TCP presented its report to Governing Bodies in late 2020. The Evaluation confirmed the value of the TCP as a vital instrument to support Members in addressing their priority needs. The evaluation also saw potential to further strengthen the TCP and provided a series of recommendations. • TCP as a Catalyst: By design, TCP projects are meant to complement ongoing programmes/activities. Given its scope, standalone use would unlikely be sustainable or effective. Emphasis is on complementing ongoing high-priority government initiatives, fostering coherence and the potential for systemic outcomes. Explore the story from this link.
• TCP Results and Indicators: About 700 to  800  TCP projects are approved every biennium and more than 1 000 TCPs can be operational at the same time. The challenge to systematically monitor and document how the TCP delivers for Member Countries has been taken up and the approach is under constant development. Find out more from this link.
• TCP Strategic Alignment: TCP-funded interventions are the most frequent project type in FAO. Around 40 percent of all projects approved in a year are TCP-funded, and in many countries, TCP constitutes a major part of the field programme.  Governing Bodies have defined a set of TCP criteria that regulate the type of assistance that can be provided through the programme.
